Yesterday (Sunday) I normally do trampoline, but there was no class that day. Instead, I went for the worst bike ride ever. It was my husband’s birthday and we had a busy day scheduled. I had to squeeze in a 30 minute bike ride at dusk. I went down to the trail by the lake and it was bugapalooza. It was gross. It began with a bug flying in to my left eye right in front of the one mile marker. It STUNG the inside of my bottom eyelid and I pretty much jumped off my bike spazzing out in front of a dad and his son. I had to use my cell phone camera to get it out, but my eye still hurt. During the remaining 25 minutes, 2 other bugs flew in to my left eye, one tried to fly up my nose, and one may have flown in my mouth, I’m not 100% sure. Not to mention the 1000 that hit my face or body as I rode. GAK. Note to self, get sporty sunglasses to wear on my bike. Then I did my 100 pushups and 3 minutes of plank. This plank challenge is getting painful.
Today (Monday) I went to my favorite yoga class. I did 15 minutes of fast walking on a high incline on the treadmill beforehand. In my sandals, haha. The instructor has made a practice for each chakra and we do one each week. She forgot what week we were on and repeated last week’s practice. It was on the throat center. It’s a perfectly fine practice, but I had been looking forward to what she’d do for the 3rd eye practice. I have yet to do my plank/pushups, but I’ll go do those now.
I feel like I’ve been lazy lately. I’m thinking maybe an hour on the AMT tomorrow at the gym?
I’m still here, but my laptop died. Typing on my phone so it will be brief.
Sunday I went to trampoline and then to a yoga thing with my 4y/o.
Monday I went to my favorite yoga class. Later that night I did a bit of yoga and handstand practice, as well as my 45 seconds of plank and 100 pushups app.
Not sure what I’m doing today.
I was never a gymnast as a child, didn’t really do much in dance. I think today was the closest I’ve ever been in my life to actually doing a handstand. I went to an Intro to Handstand workshop at a local yoga studio. I was the only one in the class that had never done a handstand before, but by the end of it, I could no longer say that!
The instructor gave us steps and exercises to work towards a handstand, get your body ready and try to break through the fear. Now I can’t stop practicing them! There was talk of a second workshop soon, so we’ll see if that happens. I’d definitely attend again. It’s amazing how much your breath helps you in a handstand, that was the biggest thing the instructor tried to express to us, and it was definitely true!
I also did my 35 seconds of plank and 100 pushups app for the day. Tomorrow is the “rest” day for those two things. I’m going to trampoline tomorrow, whee!
Yesterday (Sunday) I went to trampoline. I posted a photo from after class, but I forgot to actually blog about it. It was fun as always, sweaty, one of the most fun ways to work out! After class I played around with forearm balances and headstands.
Today I went to the gym. I normally just do yoga with my favorite instructor on Mondays, but since I’m so behind on my runnin’ runnin monthly challenge, I ran too. I did two miles on the treadmill before it was time for class. That takes me to 32 out of 50 miles run for the month. I have 7 days to run 18 miles. I’m going to try for 4 miles tomorrow and Tuesday.
In class we focused on the third chakra, the belly. After over a year of practicing yoga, I finally found ease in chaturanga. I’ve always struggled with that pose, first with my belly flopping on to the mat, then being able to go down but not push back up into updog. After asking every instructor I ran in to for tips, working on my upper body and core strength, and just practicing regularly, I finally found ease. I was at the point where I could do it a few times but then I’d get tired. Today I rocked it every time. I love that triumphant feeling!
So I took my pleurisy ridden lungs for a run today. I had hoped to do 4 miles, but I scraped by at 2.75 because I started feeling some discomfort in my lungs. I don’t want to aggravate it, or injure myself, so I went ahead and called it quits. It was still an ok run, but a little disappointing to be so far behind on my monthly challenge. I’m at 23.75 out of 50 and I have 10 more workouts left in the month.
I’m trying to figure out how to do it, but it’ll really depend on my lungs I guess. As of tomorrow, I’ll have 10 days to take it up 26.25 more miles. That’d be 2.65 miles per day, which sounds reasonable, but I have other workouts to do too, trampoline, bodypump, yoga, etc. I will try! I think I can give it a good go, assuming my lungs will play along.
Had a great time at trampoline aerobics today. I missed last week because I was out of town for Easter, so it was good to get back to it. Lots of laps, lots of push ups, some abs, lots of bouncing and fun!
Tomorrow, yoga with my favorite teacher for the first time in two weeks! Yay!
Was that even today? I did it first thing this morning and it feels like it was days ago. Anyway, I went to Bodypump today. I like the Saturday instructor, she’s motivating in a fun way. My body wasn’t so tired today and I was back at my normal weight for everything. It was a good class, I was glad I went.
Tomorrow: trampoline!
Yesterday (Saturday) was day 91, and my first full day after my LASIK surgery. My mom is in town and I had a busy day, running all around town. I had about an hour free that I had to jump on in which to work out. I didn’t have time to get to the gym, so I popped in the Yogini Workout DVD and did that. It’s 45 minutes of yoga-esque moves, done a little quicker and more repetitively. I was a bit skeptical at first, and it wasn’t a YOGA workout, but it was a decent workout. I modified in my own ways to make it a bit harder or truer to yoga as needed. I felt great afterwards.
Today I went to trampoline aerobics. It was BUSY! It was a great workout as always. My LASIK didn’t give me any trouble, I just made sure to wipe my face often to keep the sweat out of my eyes. That class kicks my butt in the best way!
Today is April 1, which means a new monthly challenge, and a progress update! I haven’t taken measurements yet, so I’ll do that soon!
This morning at 8:20 I had LASIK eye surgery. So now I no longer need to wear glasses. Well, except for these crazy eye protector glasses they gave me to wear today and tomorrow. But after that, I should be glasses free. That means no more pushing my glasses up my sweaty nose as I run, having to remove them for certain things on the trampoline or yoga, having to adjust my glasses so I can look to the side and see what the yoga instructor is doing. I’m so excited.
This morning, on the way, we stopped at Starbucks. They didn’t put the lid on well enough and as we turned, the lid popped off and HOT coffee spilled all over my butt! OW. Fortunately it didn’t blister my skin and I was wearing dark pants that didn’t show my coffee butt. The LASIK itself was ok. I was nervous but I just tried my hardest to focus on my breath. I did a four count breath in, held it for a count, then a four count breath out.
I am getting LASIK on Friday so I’m working hard this week. I don’t normally attend the Wednesday trampoline aerobics class because I have to pay for childcare and it really doesn’t fit in to my schedule. Today I made an exception though, because it’s a great cardio workout and I’m going to have to take it easy for at least a few days after I have LASIK. It was fun, we bounced, stretched, did abs and pushups, ran various laps, and then I did a headstand.
