Yesterday (Saturday) I went on my first group bicycle ride. I joined a local bicycling club on their novice ride. It was a 17.5 mile ride at an average 12mph pace. It was fun! The pace and distance was a bit easy for me, but I’ll stick to the novice group for a few more times so I can learn the rules of the road, then move up to the next level. I really need a new bike saddle before I go much farther, the one that’s on my bike now is a minimalistic men’s saddle, and that just doesn’t fly for me. I’m stalking my email because I found the exact bike saddle I want on craigslist, so hopefully that pans out. I’m hoping to make that group ride my new Saturday routine.
Today my friend (and former Trampoline Aerobics instructor) shared her kayak and SUP with me. It was fantastic! For those who don’t know, SUP stands for Stand Up Paddle board. We went out on the lake and got a great core and arm/back/shoulder workout paddling around. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I left dying to buy a SUP and kayak. I actually went to Dick’s afterwards to check them out and found out that the Dick’s in San Antonio had a couple SUP boards clearanced out to $150! My awesome mom and dad drove down to pick them up and now my sister and I are proud new SUP owners. They’re pretty basic models, but it’s not like we’re gonna be riding waves or racing, and you can’t beat the price! It’ll be a few weeks before I can drive down and get mine, but yay! I’m still considering getting a kayak too. Dick’s has them for $180, and they even sell a little floaty boat thing to tow the kids behind us. We live a mile from a lake, it’s about time we use it!
Today I thought about going to the gym for some AMT, or hitting Bodypump, but a friend invited my kids and I over to her place to swim. We went and ended up staying for a long time. Swimming with two small children almost counts as a workout itself, but I guess it’s more of a mental workout than physical.
She suggested we go for a bike ride. She had two bikes and two bike trailers, so we loaded the kids up and rode for 30 minutes. I did a little over 6 miles. It wasn’t a super long ride, so I tried to find some hard hills to hit so that I was still challenging myself.
I also did my 3.5 minutes of plank and 100 pushups app. Today was the first day that I literally did 100 pushups! Also, regarding the May plank challenge, is everyone doing the yoga plank or forearm plank? I’ve been doing forearm plank. I wonder which is harder.
Tomorrow I really am going to Bodypump.
