I went to Bodypump today, a friend joined me too. It was just fine. I upped my weight for chest, back and lunges. I’m in between weights for biceps. A 5 is too light but a 5 and a 2.5 is a bit too heavy. I need a 6, haha. The front of my right shoulder hurt when I was doing tricep dips, so I had to cut those short.
After that, we volunteered to help unload the produce for our produce co-op, which was another workout in itself! Most of the boxes weighed at least 20-30 pounds. I got a headache toward the end, but a stop at Starbucks helped.
I’ve got corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots in the crock pot for dinner, and a few fun beers. We spent the rest of the day doing laundry and switching the kids’ clothes out for new sizes/seasons. Fun stuff! Tomorrow, trampoline and a birthday party.
For the month of January, I challenged myself to try something new once a week. This week, I tried the Les Mills Bodypump class for the first time. I had heard good things about the class from friends and my sister.
I was thankful that my sister took the time to show me the basics of the class beforehand. While she was in town, we went to the gym and she showed me how to set up the bar, what equipment I would need, the basic moves for the class and the proper form. Without that, I would have been pretty lost. There was no guidance or help from the instructor on the class basics.
The class itself was good, I will be adding it to my Wednesday routine. I need some weights in my workout routine, and this is a good place to get a full body strength training workout. There were lots of squats, and my triceps are already sore. I’m afraid of how sore I might be in the morning!
The instructor was pleasant enough, she sometimes sang along with the music and she had a growly Cookie Monster voice that she’d do sometimes. It was supposed to be her tough girl bootcamp instructor voice but it was funny to me. She was positive, motivating and encouraging. I didn’t find her intimidating. All in all, I agree that it’s a good class and I’m glad I tried it out!
