Yesterday (Saturday) was day 91, and my first full day after my LASIK surgery. My mom is in town and I had a busy day, running all around town. I had about an hour free that I had to jump on in which to work out. I didn’t have time to get to the gym, so I popped in the Yogini Workout DVD and did that. It’s 45 minutes of yoga-esque moves, done a little quicker and more repetitively. I was a bit skeptical at first, and it wasn’t a YOGA workout, but it was a decent workout. I modified in my own ways to make it a bit harder or truer to yoga as needed. I felt great afterwards.
Today I went to trampoline aerobics. It was BUSY! It was a great workout as always. My LASIK didn’t give me any trouble, I just made sure to wipe my face often to keep the sweat out of my eyes. That class kicks my butt in the best way!
Today is April 1, which means a new monthly challenge, and a progress update! I haven’t taken measurements yet, so I’ll do that soon!
This morning at 8:20 I had LASIK eye surgery. So now I no longer need to wear glasses. Well, except for these crazy eye protector glasses they gave me to wear today and tomorrow. But after that, I should be glasses free. That means no more pushing my glasses up my sweaty nose as I run, having to remove them for certain things on the trampoline or yoga, having to adjust my glasses so I can look to the side and see what the yoga instructor is doing. I’m so excited.
This morning, on the way, we stopped at Starbucks. They didn’t put the lid on well enough and as we turned, the lid popped off and HOT coffee spilled all over my butt! OW. Fortunately it didn’t blister my skin and I was wearing dark pants that didn’t show my coffee butt. The LASIK itself was ok. I was nervous but I just tried my hardest to focus on my breath. I did a four count breath in, held it for a count, then a four count breath out.
Yesterday (Thursday) I was sore from doing back to back Bodypump and yoga on Tuesday. Really sore. I went to yoga to stretch back out. Oh man, I couldn’t do many of the things I normally could because I was so sore! I honored my body, took it easy, and stretched my sore muscles.
This morning I had LASIK eye surgery, so I have to take it easy on the exercise for a couple of days. I feel pretty good, and it is a nice night, so while dinner was cooking I went on a bike ride. I did 6 miles in 32 minutes. It got my heart rate up and worked my legs and butt, but didn’t put any stress or pressure on my eyes.
Small class today, we worked hard and had fun. I’m a little sore in my glutes from Bodypump yesterday. We did lots of abs today at trampoline.
Afterwards, we went to a birthday party for my son’s friend, then Costco. Fun stuff!
Tomorrow, yoga with my favorite instructor.
I’m getting so close to 100 days of working out in a row! I feel like I should celebrate. Any ideas? Hopefully getting LASIK at the end of this month doesn’t break my streak… I’ll try to keep it up!
Went to yoga today. It was just fine. After our standing work and balancing (dancer and tree) we laid down flat on our backs to rest for 30 seconds before moving on to some floor work. When I closed my eyes, the room spun! I don’t know why I was dizzy, but I had to take a break in child’s pose for a few minutes. While I was in child’s, my stomach started growling. I’m guessing that I got hungry and maybe my blood sugar dropped.
I decided to honor my body and skip practicing inversions after class. Inversions and dizziness seemed like a bad idea. I ate a sandwich and some iced tea after class and within an hour I felt pretty normal. My shoulders and neck feel tight though.
In other news, I had my LASIK consultation/testing done today. It turns out that I am a candidate for LASIK, so I’ll be scheduling an appointment in the near future!
Today was my 15th day of yoga this month, thus completing my monthly challenge to practice yoga 15 times this month. Woohoo. My yoga has gotten much better throughout the month, especially because I’ve been spending time doing extra upper body and core strengthening moves in the evenings or after cardio workouts.
My class today was with my favorite instructor. It was a fun and challenging class. We did some balancing half moon and warrior 3 work. After class, my instructor spotted me in a headstand, which was super helpful. She showed me how to place my hands and arms, and told me not to kick in to it, but to use my core. Which, of course, is harder. But it’s great to have an expert that you trust who can show you the technicalities on difficult poses like that, because sometimes it’s hard to get those details just from the internet/magazines.
My monthly challenge for March is “Get Up and Move”, wake up and exercise first thing in the AM at least 3x a week. Yikes!
Tomorrow I have a consultation for LASIK eye surgery! Yippee!!
