I think I have some sort of ear infection thing going on. I called the Dr. to make an appointment. They had me leave a message and haven’t called back. Blah.
I completely lost my voice on Saturday, and my ear hurt on Saturday night so I took it easy on Sunday. I went to the Deep Stretch class at my local studio. I expected it to be like a Yin Yoga class, but it was a bit more active than that. We did go much deeper into the stretches than you do in the typical vinyasa class, but there were still sun salutations and movement too. The focus for that particular class seemed to be mainly on hip opening. I liked it.
Yesterday (Monday) my voice came back! I went to my favorite yoga teacher’s class. We did the 7th chakra, crown of the head. That means we played with some headstands, which is always fun. We did a meditation at the end too. It wasn’t a very rigorous practice. Later that day, I saw that Lululemon was holding a free Sunset Yoga class at my local studio. I can’t say no to free yoga right down the road, so I went. It was an all level vinyasa class and it was a bit crowded, but perfectly enjoyable. I did do a tripod headstand and slipped on my sweat and fell, haha! But hey, that happens sometimes.
Today I did 30 minutes on the AMT at the gym, then went over and practiced some random yoga inversions and arm balances (see the videos on my previous posts).
Went to yoga with my favorite instructor today, it had been a couple of weeks but I was glad to get back!
She is focusing on a different chakra each week. This week was the 2nd chakra, Svadhistana. We did lots of flowing and hip opening today. At the end, I pulled my mat up to the wall to practice a headstand. My instructor came over and said she wanted to watch me because she wanted to be sure I was doing it right. She warned me not to kick up in to it. I told her I didn’t, that I could do it with my core, then I did it, and was even able to stay off the wall. She helped me stretch and lengthen my ribcage up in my headstand.
Tomorrow I need to run, I’m at 21 miles for my 50 mile monthly challenge. That’s a bit behind, as the month is more than half way over. I think I’ll do four miles to try and catch up a bit.
