This time because I was in California over the weekend, then because I’ve been using all my spare time to listen to the Hunger Games trilogy books on tape.

8/17, day 230: 30 minutes airport yoga in the AA Admirals Club, hours of walking the hills at the San Diego zoo.

8/18, day 231: vinyasa yoga at a California studio

Yesterday (Wednesday) I went to the “renew” class at a local yoga studio. It was a 45 minute flow class with 15 minutes of restorative stretches at the end. The class could have been ok, but I really didn’t care for the instructor. The whole class was like a limp handshake.

Day 229. Today I went to my 6am boxing bootcamp. I did burpees for the first time ever. I was surprised to find out how much yoga has prepared me to do burpees. If you jump back from your forward fold to plank, and vice versa, you regularly do 3/4 of a burpee many times in a flow class.

Tomorrow two of my BFFs from college and I are going to fly out to California for a long weekend. I forsee airport yoga in my future.

Umm... days 211-227...

Wow, it’s been WAY too long. So long that I’d think about blogging and then think, “gosh it’s been so long!” and feel bad and not do it. So no excuses, here it is. The good news is that I HAVE been working out every day. I just haven’t been logging it here. So here goes!

211 (Sunday July 29) 2 hour bike safety clinic and 20 mile ride

223 (Friday August 10) 2 hour yoga workshop with Briohny Smyth & Dice Iida-Klein

224 (Saturday August 11) TWO 2 hour yoga workshops with Birohny & Dice

225 (Sunday August 12) 2 hour yoga workshop with Briohny & Dice

226 (Monday August 13) Level 2/3 vinyasa flow yoga

227: (Tuesday August 14) 6am boxing bootcamp

Phew! I can’t believe I remembered it all. I wouldn’t have been able to without checking my foursquare history! But that’s done. I promise to be a better blogger again.

Days 208-210:

On Thursday, 208, I went to the chiro for an adjustment and learned that my sacrum and right hip were way out of whack. Then I went to the gym for 30 minutes of elliptical.

On Friday, 209, I went to the sports medicine doctor to have him look at my left knee, which had begun popping and crackling. Apparently my cartilage is a bit messed up and I have to do some stretches and strengthening to keep it from getting worse. So my workout for that day was an hour of mercilessly mashing my muscles on the foam roller and 30 minutes of various leg strengthening and stretching exercises that the doctor gave me.

Today, day 210, I went to the all level flow class at the local studio. My membership there is almost up, so for August I’m going to go to a different studio. I won a one month unlimited membership there in a silent auction, so I’ve gotta use it!

Whoa Blog Strike... Days 198-207

Not intentionally, but I haven’t blogged in over a week!

198 Monday vinyasa yoga
199 Tuesday boxing boot camp
200 Wednesday vinyasa yoga
201 Thursday boxing boot camp
202 Friday vinyasa yoga x2!
203 Saturday 35 min elliptical
204 Sunday deep stretch yoga
205 Monday 35 min elliptical
206 Tuesday 35 min elliptical
207 Wednesday Shape Class at Dancer’s Shape with my sister.

Slight concern about repetitive stress on my joints from so much vinyasa. Thus all the elliptical. I had a deep tissue massage yesterday and feel better. I have a chiro appointment tomorrow and am getting checked out by a sports med doc on Friday. I also have another sports/deep tissue massage scheduled for the 31st. Hopefully a bit of rest and some massage/adjustment will take care of it.

Days 194, 195, 196 & 197: Yoga, Boxing, Biking, Paddling

Day 194 (Thursday) I went to the 6 am boxing fitness class in my neighborhood.

Day 195 (Friday) I went to the 6 am all level flow class at the yoga studio.

Day 196 (Saturday) I went on a 17.5 mile bike ride with a local bike club, then later that afternoon we took our new kayak out on the lake and I did some paddling.

Day 197, today, I went to the Deep Stretch class at the yoga studio.

Day 191, 192 & 193: Yoga, Boxing, Yoga

I kinda forgot about my blog there for a bit. I was thinking about going to bed when I remembered that I should probably log my workouts.

Day 191 (Monday) I went to yoga at the studio in the evening. It was my least favorite teacher there, but it was still ok. Lots of twisting.

Yesterday (Tuesday) I tried out a boxing bootcamp in my neighborhood. One of the women here is a trainer and holds classes twice a week at 6 am and 7:30 pm in her garage gym. I had been considering going for a while, and she offered a free trial, so I did it. It was fantastic! A nice mix of cardio, weights and boxing. I was completely new to boxing but she is teaching me the moves and technique. I’m going back again tomorrow at 6 am!

Today I got my booty up and went to the 6 am yoga class at the studio. They offer it every week day, and in my head, I want to go every day, but I really struggle with getting out of bed. This morning, I just did it, and I’m so glad I did. It was a good class, lots of newbies though. The instructor was focusing a lot on teaching them the very basics and how to modify to make it easier. I am comfortable enough in my practice to modify to my own needs, often making a pose more difficult. I heard her telling the newbies behind me that they didn’t have to take the binds I was taking and such, haha. But I’m all about spreading the yoga love, and kudos to them for being there at 6am!

I’m off to bed, early morning boxing awaits!

Day 189 & 190: Group Ride & SUP

Yesterday (Saturday) I went on my first group bicycle ride. I joined a local bicycling club on their novice ride. It was a 17.5 mile ride at an average 12mph pace. It was fun! The pace and distance was a bit easy for me, but I’ll stick to the novice group for a few more times so I can learn the rules of the road, then move up to the next level. I really need a new bike saddle before I go much farther, the one that’s on my bike now is a minimalistic men’s saddle, and that just doesn’t fly for me. I’m stalking my email because I found the exact bike saddle I want on craigslist, so hopefully that pans out. I’m hoping to make that group ride my new Saturday routine.

Today my friend (and former Trampoline Aerobics instructor) shared her kayak and SUP with me. It was fantastic! For those who don’t know, SUP stands for Stand Up Paddle board. We went out on the lake and got a great core and arm/back/shoulder workout paddling around. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I left dying to buy a SUP and kayak. I actually went to Dick’s afterwards to check them out and found out that the Dick’s in San Antonio had a couple SUP boards clearanced out to $150! My awesome mom and dad drove down to pick them up and now my sister and I are proud new SUP owners. They’re pretty basic models, but it’s not like we’re gonna be riding waves or racing, and you can’t beat the price! It’ll be a few weeks before I can drive down and get mine, but yay! I’m still considering getting a kayak too. Dick’s has them for $180, and they even sell a little floaty boat thing to tow the kids behind us. We live a mile from a lake, it’s about time we use it!

Days 187 & 188: Easing Back in to Things

Day 187 (Thursday), I did 30 minutes of intervals on the elliptical at the gym. I had been sick, but was feeling better. RIGHT after I got off the elliptical, some dude puked all over the floor directly in front of the elliptical I had been using. So glad I skipped the 5 minute cooldown, lol!

Day 188 I did 15 minutes of high intensity intervals on the AMT, then went in to the GroupX room and practiced yoga inversions. I hadn’t practiced them in a while, and didn’t want to get rusty. I really want to gain confidence to move away from the wall. I worked on headstand, tripod headstand, forearm balance and handstand.

Days 185 & 186: SICK!

I’m so glad I got to my halfway point before I got sick. I worked out every single day for exactly half of 2012. Two days later, I got a stomach bug and there was no way I could get a workout in. I was really disappointed to break my streak, but I realize that illness is a part of life, especially when you have young kids. So for day 185, I was hugging the toilet.

Day 186 was the 4th of July. I was signed up for a 5k in my neighborhood but I had been sick the day before. I felt OK, so I walked a mile over to the race start and picked up my packet. After the mile walk, I knew there was no way I could even walk the 5k. My body still felt queezy and tired from being sick. So I walked the mile back home. At least I got my t-shirt. So, day 186 was a 2 mile walk instead of a 5k. When I got home, I went back to bed.

Day 184: 5k Practice

I haven’t updated in a few days. You’ll see why in my next post.

My 4y/o was sick all day, so I stayed home with him and couldn’t work out until my husband got home that evening. I had signed up for the 4th of July 5k that ran through my neighborhood, so on Monday, day 184, I ran the 5k route to practice. I run in my neighborhood all the time, but had never run that exact route. It went just fine. I stopped at one point to help a teenager who had fallen off her bike and couldn’t put the chain back on. After my run, my tummy hurt a little.

Making this for the 4th cookout!

Making this for the 4th cookout!:
ooola-la:

My mom and I made this for our Father’s Day BBQ. It’s a stunning seasonal dessert and it’s yummy as well. Although it looks pretty it’s not hard to make. Bring it to your next summer get-together!

Do you know what I did today? Worked out for the 183rd day in a row. A leap year has 366 days. Divide that by two and you’ll see why I’m doing a happy dance today! Six months of move365 done, six more to go!! And shoutout to my sister, who is doing move365 with me!

How did I work out? Went to the Deep Stretch class at the yoga studio. I was sore from my bike ride yesterday and somehow pulled a muscle in my hip/upper glute area. This was perfect.

Tomorrow I normally go to my fav. gym yoga, but they cancelled the class. I have no idea what I’ll do instead.
