I went to a yoga class at the gym today. It was a gentler, hatha class. We worked a lot on external rotation and keeping the pelvis and body stable as we went through our practice. It was nice to get a reminder on my foundation.
She had us just laying down and doing various leg lifts while keeping our pelvis and shoulders steady and relaxed for the first half hour. Then we got up and did some flowing and got a little warmed up. We also did tree pose with our eyes closed, which is always an adventure! It wasn’t a power class, or a butt kicker, but it was great stretching and a reminder to remember the foundations of our practice so that we’re getting the most out of it and not injuring ourselves. We did some work in warriors/lunge/chair/squat that had my thighs burning too!
I also learned that my favorite two yoga teachers teach tantric hatha yoga. So that’s good to know!
Also, today was yoga practice #14 for February, that means one more and I’ve met my monthly challenge to practice yoga at least 15 times this month! If all goes well, I should be practicing next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so it looks like I’ll beat my challenge!
